Privacy-friendly view analytics for WordPress — built for accuracy, speed, and real-world reporting.

IQ Views Tracker is a lightweight analytics plugin that tracks unique views across selected post types using a first-party tracking pixel (cache-safe), with country detection, registered vs guest segmentation, sortable dashboards, drilldowns, and CSV exports.

Why IQ Views Tracker?

Most WordPress “view counters” inflate numbers, break under caching, or don’t help you make decisions. IQ Views Tracker focuses on clean, practical analytics you can trust.

  • Unique views (de-duped) – reduces inflated counts from refreshes and repeat hits
  • Cache-safe – first-party pixel approach works reliably even with page caching
  • Country analytics – fast detection using headers / local MaxMind / optional fallback
  • Registered vs Guest – understand member behaviour vs public traffic
  • Reporting-ready – CSV exports for clients, stakeholders, and spreadsheets
  • Privacy-minded – stores country code (not the IP) and keeps the tracking lightweight

Key Features

1) Unique view tracking that stays reliable

Track views across posts, pages, and custom post types with practical de-duplication so your numbers stay meaningful (especially on high-traffic pages).

2) Built for caching (first-party pixel)

Instead of relying on fragile page hooks that caches often block or duplicate, IQ Views Tracker uses a 1×1 first-party pixel request served with no-cache headers — so it reaches your server reliably.

3) Country detection (fast + flexible)

The plugin uses the best available method depending on your setup:

  • CDN/server country headers first (e.g. Cloudflare) — fastest
  • Optional local MaxMind GeoLite2 database — fast local lookup, no external calls
  • Optional remote fallback — safety net when no headers are available

4) Admin dashboards + drilldowns

Understand performance and trends quickly with sortable views dashboards and detailed drilldowns.

5) CSV export

Export key analytics as CSV for reporting, analysis, or client deliverables.

Privacy & Data Handling

IQ Views Tracker is designed to minimise personal data.
It does not store IP addresses for analytics. Country detection stores a 2-letter country code only.

The diagnostic panel may show a masked IP for the current admin request to help troubleshooting, but it is not stored as analytics.

Install & Activate (2 minutes)

  1. Download the plugin ZIP: [DOWNLOAD LINK]
  2. WordPress Admin → Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin
  3. Upload the ZIP → Install Now → Activate
  4. Go to Views Tracker → Settings
  5. Select which post types you want to track → Save changes

Recommended Settings (fastest + most reliable)

These settings give you the best balance of speed and accuracy:

Country detection priority (best practice)

  1. Cookie (if present) – fastest
  2. Header provider (Cloudflare / server headers) – fastest “first hit”
  3. Local MaxMind GeoLite2 – fast local fallback
  4. Remote fallback – last resort only

Suggested toggles

  • Header provider: Auto (Cloudflare first, then common headers)
  • Enable local MaxMind GeoLite2 lookup: ON
  • Auto-update MaxMind weekly: ON (optional but recommended)
  • Enable free remote country lookup fallback: ON (safety net)
  • Allow remote lookup during tracking pixel requests: OFF (recommended for performance)
  • Remote timeout: 2 seconds

Best performance tip: keep remote lookup disabled during pixel requests.
Pixels can fire frequently — external lookups can add latency.

Optional: MaxMind GeoLite2 (Local Country Database)

MaxMind GeoLite2 is the most reliable local method when you don’t have country headers available.

Setup steps:

  1. Create a free MaxMind account
  2. Generate a GeoLite2 license key
  3. In Views Tracker settings, enable MaxMind and enter your credentials
  4. Click Download database now
  5. (Optional) enable Auto-update weekly to keep the database fresh

Once installed, MaxMind lookups are local and fast (no external calls), and are used when headers aren’t available.

Common Use Cases

  • Membership websites: compare guest vs logged-in engagement
  • Content platforms: track which articles/pages actually perform
  • Directory sites: measure interest by region with country analytics
  • Client reporting: export performance as CSV
  • High-cache environments: avoid broken counters with pixel tracking

Troubleshooting (Quick)

If numbers look off or country detection isn’t behaving as expected:

  • Open Views Tracker → Settings → Diagnostics
  • Check:
    • whether MaxMind is enabled and DB installed
    • whether country headers are present
    • whether remote fallback is being used

If you’re behind Cloudflare, make sure IP Geolocation is enabled so CF-IPCountry is available.
